It all begins with HCl, hydrochloric acid.  It takes a lot of energy by the body to produce this acid, and for a number of reasons the body slows down on its production as we get older. Still, in my practice there are many, many young people who show signs of poor stomach function, mostly due to low amounts of. This product has HCl in a form the stomach can use effectively and safely. Great for hiatal hernias, reflux, GERD, and especially when used with tips from my 4-Element Natural Restorative article for the stomach. There are digestive enzymes in this support that will help you digest food better – which is good for Leaky Gut Syndrome, Candida, and other GI problems. As your stomach gets better you should need this less and less.

G.I. Fortify A great digestive system support for the stomach (and the rest of the GI tract) that goes a bit further than the Heartburn Essentials. In addition to all the good things in Heartburn Essentials (and more of it since it’s a powder you can put more in), there is l-glutamine, the amino acid that the cells that line the intestines and immune system use as a fuel and to help them proliferate in healthy ways. Licorice root has so many positive benefits. Here it is helpful to cut down on inflammatory issues in the colon and stomach; it helps adrenal and mental stress and so much more. Still, some say it is best not to take licorice for months at a time – it can affect your blood’s potassium levels; give your body a few weeks off of it every 2-3 months.

Gluten/Dairy Digest More and more people have become gluten sensitive. I think it comes from two main causes. One is that the stomach of most people has become weak – not producing enough stomach acid to initiate the digestion of gluten, the major protein of wheat. Another possibility is the introduction of GMOs. Genetically modified wheat may make wheat less friendly to our digestive system; avoid GMOs as part of your decision to live a more natural life. This product is great help to gluten-sensitive people to overcome small amounts of gluten that they might be getting in some meals. I don’t necessarily recommend it as a “take everyday” kind of support. If you do have gluten sensitivity, avoid wheat and other gluten products. The special protease enzymes in this especially target the gluten protein. There is also lactase enzyme if you are lactose-sensitive and have eaten dairy. It’s useful to know that this support can help cut inflammation in the GI as well, separate from these particular issues.

MotilPro This is a great product for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It’s taken only at bedtime, so you don’t have that morning IBS problem with your stools. It contains 5 different synergistic ingredients. Two are leading-edge in their extracts, the special curcumin and the boswelia extracts. It also contains ginger which has been shown to lower inflammation as well as quercetin, which is great for all types of inflammation – if you have allergies, this will help as well! It’s a bioflavonoid found in many foods and is great taken regularly. Lastly, there is some melatonin. Melatonin helps normalize the nerves within the ileum and large intestine, in a way that is geared to help IBS.
