Heart Health

The heart is one of the most important organs in our bodies.  Heart-related diseases, which include cardiovascular problems like strokes, are the number one cause of death in America – more than all cancers put together!  It is imperative, then, to ensure that your heart and blood vessels are given the best opportunity to stay healthy.

Pure Heart K2D This is a really interesting nutrient that I’m getting more and more excited about. We used to think of Vitamin K as simply a nutrient that helps in coagulation of blood; then it was discovered to play a role in bone calcification. Now it looks like it is very important to ensure that calcium does not calcify in places it is not supposed to calcify – like your arteries, which can cause stroke and heart attacks; or in other soft tissues like cartilage where it can cause joint pains. It is also valuable in patients on dialysis, which often causes calcification of the kidney’s vascular vessels. It has been found that most dialysis patients are deficient in Vitamin K. Unfortunately if you are on anticoagulant therapy you should not take this without monitoring from your doctor. What warfarin does is to block the recycling of Vitamin K. Unfortunately people who take warfarin, or Coumadin have a greater chance of developing calcification of their arteries – which actually goes against the goal of protecting their vascular vessels. The form of Vitamin K-2 (7) in this support is formed by a traditional process of bacterial fermentation of soy that is done in Japan. People who eat this product regularly have less bone fractures and cardiovascular issues. Though you may hear me say eating/drinking soy products is not good for you, fermented soy products, as well as tofu is okay!

Vascular Relax This is a great product to use if you have any tendency toward heart problems and/or blood pressure issues. It’s well rounded with a variety of very useful ingredients. Beginning with magnesium – in the good citrate form – which helps arteries to be flexible and dilate. Many of the other components have their particular polyphenols that help remove oxidative stress on both the heart and the blood vessels of the body (and heart). These include the cranberry/grape seed extract, which studies show is exceptionally powerful for helping the endothelium (inner lining) of your blood vessels. Pomegranate extract has been shown to be valuable in helping the heart to clear out oxidative toxins. Olive leaf has been shown to have its own variety of polyphenols that do amazing things for the heart and circulation. And hawthorne is a time-honored herb for the heart as well.  As I said, this is a great and well-rounded product for anyone that has heart problems – even if you are taking medications.

Have a Heart… A Healthy One From a 4 Element perspective, the heart is a Fire element organ.  It pumps the fiery caloric fuel your body requires. Your vascular systems’ arteries, capillaries and veins have a lot of Water element power – creating the fluid-filled distribution network…[read more]
